Course Description
United States History of the Built Environment
Travel back in time to learn the history of the built environment of the United States. Gain an understanding of the built environment of the United States from pre-colonial times to the present. The course includes a live component that will meet via Zoom and awards CEUs upon successful completion.
Topics explored
- American architecture meeting the Secretary of the Interior standards
- Interiors, landscape architecture and urbanism
- Common forms, styles and terminology related to built environments, as well as social and cultural context and significance
Who should take this course?
- Anyone 18 years or older interested in learning about historic preservation in the United States
- Anyone pursuing the Historic Preservation Certificate program
- Architects, planners, design professionals or others currently working in related fields needing to earn continuing education units for licensure or other professional development
Please note: If you are a current University of Idaho degree-seeking student, please make sure to register for the certificate program through the Registrar, not through CAPE.
