0007 - EDCIX505.IRMC Math Leadership Cohort
Course Description

The Mathematics Teacher Leadership Cohort will meet four times during the academic year, starting with our kick-off summit at the University of Idaho in Coeur d’Alene. We will survey the best dates and times for our three subsequent meetings when we are together for our first summit.
As part of our leadership cohort, we ask that you:
- Work closely with one of the Regional Math Specialists (Courtney Greene or Kathy Prummer) to improve instructional strategies and apply them in your own classroom
- Be a positive “point person” in your own building, grade level, and district to continue encouraging best math instructional practices (as supported by the RMS)
- Be willing to be a leader in Professional Learning Community work, bringing the best assessment and instructional practices in mathematics to your teams
- Be willing to meet outside of school hours as a cohort leadership team (or sub-teams) for professional development that you can take back to teachers at your grade levels, schools, and districts (this might mean virtual meetings and/or live meetings, depending on leader needs)
- Be willing to communicate with leaders in your district about best practices in mathematics (engaging the RMS when needed)
- Lead professional development (supported as needed by your RMS) in a Region I mini-conference
In exchange for your commitment, you will receive:
- Focused and consistent support in your classroom from your Regional Math Specialist
- Ongoing professional development in effective mathematics instructional practices
- Support from a group of other professionals with whom you can consistently collaborate and exchange ideas
- Opportunity to purchase 1-3 professional development credits from the University of Idaho, depending on teacher commitment (credits paid by participant @ $60/credit)
