Course Description

Teachers and school counselors are immersed in the social, economic and ecological aspects of sustainable forestry. They visit forests, tour mills, and learn directly from natural resource professionals. These experiences are paired with proven classroom activities. Educators leave with abundant information and resources to explore sustainable forestry with their students Upon completion of the course, participants will grasp the complexity of the forest sector (land management agencies, businesses, processing facilities, educational institutions, and local communities), and how each individual plays a role in achieving sustainable management of this important renewable resource and be equipped and empowered with activities and lessons to use with students to teach a variety of topics and disciplines while meeting academic standards.
