Course Description

Number of Credits: 1 

Little Voices, Big Communication is a one-day workshop style training that will focus on AAC for early childhood (ages 3+) with an emphasis on learning AAC through play and emergent literacy activities. 

Credit requires attending one of the following face-to-face statewide training locations:  

  • Boise- June 8, 2026 

  • Idaho Falls- June 10, 2026 

  • Coeur d’Alene – June 12, 2026

Learning Objectives: 

  • Explain foundations of AAC in early childhood 

  • Demonstrate effective AAC modeling strategies across preschool routines and play 

  • Develop an implementation plan for integrating AAC into classroom routines 

Required Materials: 

Provided at the face-to-face training 

Course Requirements: 

  1. Participation: Participants are required to attend the 1-day, AAC in the Preschool Classroom training in their selected location.  

  1. Quizzes Students must earn an 80% score on each quiz to pass the course. Quizzes can be retaken until passed.  

  2. Survey: Participants are required to complete a satisfaction survey at the end of the course. 

  3. Final assignment: (100 points) – Participants are required to complete and submit the Communication Activity Planning Assignment Form. Your final assignment will be submitted through the final assignment in Canvas. 

Grading: 

  • This is a Pass/Fail course. No incompletes will be given. Late work will not be accepted. 

  • Participants must earn an 80% or better on the quiz to pass the course. Quiz can be retaken until passed.  

  • Credit participants must earn an 80% (80/100) or better on the final written assignment to pass the course. 

  • Participants must complete the online course satisfaction survey.
