Course Description

The goal of this course is to expand the infrastructure to lead and support PBIS implementation across Idaho while increasing awareness of PBIS as an effective, evidence-based strategy to positively impact student outcomes. Within this cohort model course, Idaho SESTA will provide professional development by supporting district-level planning, school team training, technical assistance, and ongoing coaching. Within this course, school teams will walk away with an understanding of how the implementation of the PBIS framework can positively impact student outcomes.  School teams will demonstrate their understanding of Tier 1 systems through the development of proactive, universal supports to positively impact all students.

Course Location/Format:

This is a face-to-face course requiring full participation across all training dates in a designated location.

Credit requires attending all sessions (five days) of face-to-face training at one of the locations and dates below:

Face-to-Face Training Locations:

  • Boise: June 2-5, 2026
  • Jerome: June 8-12, 2026
  • Sandpoint: June 8-11, 2026
  • Rexburg: June 15-19

Course Objectives:

  • Participants will understand the foundations of the PBIS Framework by gaining knowledge about the Tier 1 practices and systems.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of contributing factors that impact school culture and climate.
  • Participants will learn strategies to positively impact school culture & climate by implementing Tier 1 Universal supports for all students, schoolwide.
  • Participants will understand how to best respond to and prevent maladaptive behavior.
  • Participants will learn to analyze student data to make decisions and inform instruction.

Required Materials:

Provided at the face-to-face training.

Course Requirements:

  • Participation: Participants are required to attend (five days) of face-to-face training (30 hours) in their designated locations.
  • Survey: Participants are required to complete a satisfaction survey at the end of the course.

Grading:

This is a Pass/Fail course. No incompletes will be given.

In order to pass:

  • Participants must attend all hours of training at their designated location.
  • Participants must complete the online course satisfaction survey to pass the course.
